College Basketball

I was originally planning on writing some article about my opinion on what the NFL All-Pro team should be. However, something extraordinary happened: Indiana University came back to the national spotlight. Tom Crean (IU coach) won his first game against a ranked team since he's been at Indiana. Now, for those of you who don't know, I'm a big Purdue fan. Most of you Iowans don't understand the hatred between those two groups of fans. I guess it could be similar to that of Democrats and Republicans. They never agree, and they try to do whatever it takes to drag down the other group. But, something strange happened during the thrilling game, I was PULLING FOR INDIANA!!!! I was awestruck at how a bunch of no-names (the two best players on the team didn't even play) could beat a team that nearly beat the number 1 team in the country on Saturday. In the past, IU had come close to beating good teams, but always faded late, and could never quite pull out as the victor. But something different happened tonight. Their shots were falling, they were hitting their free throws, and they didn't fold under pressure as they had done so many times before. This was a team that was just soundly defeated by IOWA, who is terrible. The team should have had no chance in the game, and they hung tough, and eventually won. The atmosphere at Assembly Hall was unbelievable. Through all the terrible years this once-proud team had suffered through, the fans always showed up, and always rooted on the Hoosiers. And tonight, the fans finally got what they had so long desired: a marquee victory. Now, expect Indiana to return to greatness. Not this season, but next. They have a talented group of recruits coming in, and they should pull in even more after this. This team will be good for years to come. And I'm glad. As a Purdue fan, I could be scared, but I've got to face the facts: IU is back, and I'll be pulling for them all the way.
